Around about 1991 and 1992, I was a member of ACiD, a group whose name at that time stood for "ANSI Creators in Demand".
In the days before the web and widely available commercial Internet access, members of groups like ACiD used the IBM PC extended character set and ANSI cursor position and colour escape codes to create images for BBSs.
Here're some of the more notable "ANSI images" I've created, converted somewhat clumsily to GIF format.
